Who’s starting, who’s hurt, and who’s on the move?
NFL news is nonstop, and we’re breaking it all down week by week this season.
Here’s the latest on what’s happening around the league entering Week 11:
The Denver Broncos’ starting running back is having season-ending foot surgery, per ESPN. Dobbins, who’s in his first season with the Broncos, has rushed for 772 yards and four touchdowns this season.
New England defensive tackle out multiple weeks
The New England Patriots will be without Milton Williams for the foreseeable future due to a high-ankle sprain, per ESPN. Williams suffered the injury in New England’s Week 11 win over the New York Jets. The 26-year-old defensive tackle, who’s in the first season of a four-year, $104 million deal, has totaled 3.5 sacks and 27 combined tackles this season.
Sam LaPorta ruled out
Detroit Lions tight end Sam LaPorta will miss his first game of the season Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles. LaPorta missed practice all week with a back injury and was ruled out on Friday’s injury report.
Bengals rule out stars for Sunday
The Cincinnati Bengals will be without stars on both sides of the ball for their Week 11 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Defensive end Trey Hendrickson will miss his second consecutive game with a hip injury. Quarterback Joe Burrow, who was activated from the injured reserve, will also miss Week 11 as he recovers from turf toe.
Lamar Jackson good to go for Sunday
After missing Wednesday’s practice with knee soreness, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson practiced in full and should be good to go Sunday against the Browns. Jackson missed three contests earlier this season with a hamstring injury, and with the Ravens amid a playoff push, they can’t afford their superstar QB to miss any more time.
Head coach John Harbaught affirmed Jackson’s status with a simple nod on Friday.
Aaron Glenn “considering everything” at QB
Following the Jets’ 27-14 loss to the Patriots on Thursday night, head coach Aaron Glenn said “he’s evaluating everything” regarding New York’s starting quarterback. Justin Fields has started all 10 games for the team. However, prior to Week 9, the Jets had named Tyrod Taylor the starter, but he got hurt in practice, and Fields was reinstated and led New York to its first win of the season.
Now, after a loss to their divisional rival, Glenn might go back to Taylor. He hasn’t decided on anything and the decision, he says, will be based on who gives them the best chance to win.
Buccaneers Irving, Godwin won’t play Sunday
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will have to face the Buffalo Bills on Sunday without running back Bucky Irving or wide receiver Chris Godwin. Per ESPN, Irving is out with foot and shoulder injuries, while Godwin is dealing with a fibula injury.
Irving has rushed for 237 yards on 71 attempts while picking up seven first downs in 2025, but hasn’t played since Sep. 28 against the Eagles owing to his foot injury. While he has mostly recovered from that at this point, his shoulder still presents a problem, per the Tampa Bay Times. As for Godwin, he has appeared in just two games, the last on Oct. 5 against the Seahawks, after working back from a dislocated ankle suffered in 2024. He then injured his fibula in his second week back in action.
The Texans (4-5) will be without Stroud for their Week 11 road matchup against the Titans because of the same concussion that sidelined him last week, per ESPN. Backup Davis Mills will be under center for Houston, which mounted a 19-point comeback to beat the Jaguars last week.
49ers HC Kyle Shanahan gives update on QB Brock Purdy
The 49ers are getting their starting quarterback back for their Week 11 road matchup against the Cardinals, and Shanahan loves what he’s seeing from the fourth-year signal-caller. “You can just feel it,” he said about Purdy’s mobility and accuracy while practicing Thursday. “A guy you’ve been around for a while like I have Brock, you can just feel how the ball comes off, how he moves, how he reacts.” Purdy has only appeared in two games this season due to turf toe. With backup Mac Jones under center, San Francisco is 5-3 and sits at 6-4 on the season.
After not appearing at practice Wednesday during the portion open to reporters, Jackson returned to the field Thursday. The star quarterback has started Baltimore’s past two games after missing the previous three with a hamstring injury. He was able to play for the duration of the Ravens’ win over the Vikings last weekend. The Ravens (4-5) have won three in a row to pull within a game of the first-place Steelers in the AFC North, but another injury to Jackson certainly would be a setback. They play the Browns this weekend, followed by a home game against the Jets.
The Cardinals will be without their top wide receiver for Sunday’s game against the 49ers and possibly longer. Harrison recently underwent surgery for appendicitis, head coach Jonathan Gannon told reporters Wednesday. Harrison has 34 receptions for 525 yards and four touchdowns this season. He has seen an improvement in his play more recently, logging 18 receptions for 317 yards and two touchdowns in five games since the start of October.
Giants change QB depth chart
With Jaxson Dart in concussion protocol and likely to miss Week 11, the Giants have moved third-stringer Jameis Winston up to the No. 2 spot, putting him in line to start against the Packers, per NFL Media. Veteran Russell Wilson, who signed a one-year deal with the Giants, started the first three games of the season before being benched in Week 4; Wilson has since been Dart’s backup. The Giants (2-8) fired head coach Brian Daboll earlier this week.
Alexander is stepping away from football to “focus on getting himself right physically and mentally” before making a decision about his playing future, FOX Sports NFL insider Jay Glazer reported Tuesday, just over a week after he was part of a midseason trade. Alexander, 28, didn’t play in the Eagles’ 10-7 win on Monday Night Football.
He spent the first seven seasons of his Pro Bowl career with the Packers before getting released in June. He signed with the Ravens shortly after but played in just two games, as he was a healthy scratch for five games. The Eagles acquired Alexander and a 2027 seventh-round pick from the Ravens for a 2026 sixth-round pick on Nov. 1.
After losing three of their past four games, the Steelers are reportedly adding reinforcement to their practice squad in veteran Samuel. Previously with the Chargers, Samuel was widely considered one of the top cornerbacks in free agency last offseason. However, he remained unsigned until Tuesday, as he underwent spinal fusion surgery in April.
Pittsburgh has dealt with a slew of injuries in its secondary as of late, with CB Darius Slay becoming the latest injured member of the Steelers’ secondary; he entered concussion protocol following Sunday’s loss to the Chargers. Samuel had six interceptions in the first three seasons of his career before an injury shortened his 2024 season to four games.
The Raiders signed kicker Greg Joseph to their practice squad Tuesday, a strong indication they are ready to move on from Carlson should he continue to struggle. Carlson missed a 48-yard field goal that could’ve sent Thursday night’s 10-7 loss to the Broncos into overtime. That came just four days after he missed an extra point in a one-point overtime loss to the Jags. Carlson, who’s in the final season of his contract, was a second-team AP All-Pro in 2021 and a first-teamer the next season. He made 7 of 11 kicks from 50 yards and beyond last season but is only 3-for-6 this year.
Dobbins is reportedly a candidate for IR after suffering a left foot sprain in Week 10. Denver has not placed Dobbins on the list as of Tuesday, though things could change quickly with a Week 11 meeting with the Chiefs approaching. Dobbins’ solid play has steadied one of the NFL’s best offenses in his first year with the team. He has compiled 153 carries for 772 yards, the fifth-most in the NFL, and four touchdowns.
Burrow returned to practice Monday, opening the 21-day window for the franchise QB to return to the lineup. His practice time will not count against the 53-player active roster. Burrow is eligible to be activated during the three-week window. However, head coach Zac Taylor said Burrow would not return for Sunday’s game vs. the Steelers. The Bengals (3-6) have lost six of seven since Burrow suffered a toe injury in mid-September that required surgery.
“He (has) worked hard to get to this point, to get back on the field in a limited form,” Taylor said before Monday’s practice. Burrow will work with some receivers but won’t participate in 11-on-11 drills until possibly next week.
The Bengals have three wins in 2025, two of which came with Burrow as the starter. Cincinnati went 0-3 with Jake Browning as the starting quarterback and have gone 1-4 with veteran Joe Flacco since a trade with the Browns.
Simmons has returned to the team after dealing with a family matter that kept him away for several weeks, though it remains unclear when he will be back on the field for them. Head coach Andy Reid told local reporters Monday that Simmons, who had been replaced by Jaylon Moore in the starting lineup, would get back into the mix as the team’s bye. The Chiefs are preparing to visit the AFC West-leading Broncos for a crucial divisional matchup this weekend.
In other news, RB Isaih Pacheco, Kansas City’s leading rusher, could be in danger of missing Week 11 and possibly more time after already missing Week 9 with a sprained MCL.
Wilson will reportedly miss three to four games after re-injuring his right knee against the Browns, per ESPN. Wilson underwent an MRI on Monday to confirm the severity of his knee sprain, which will require rehab but no surgery.
Wilson, who had no catches in a game for the first time in his four NFL seasons, was hurt in Week 10 when he came down hard on his knee after going for a deep pass down the sideline. The veteran never came back into the game. After previously missing the first two games of his career in Weeks 7 and 8, Wilson will now miss additional time with the hope of returning in either Week 13 or 14. The Jets travel to play the AFC East-leading Patriots to open Week 11.
On Monday, Payne was suspended for one game without pay by the league for hitting Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown during the teams’ game the night before, violating a rule “contrary to sportsmanship,” per the NFL’s statement.
