Sam Rivers, the founding bassist of the band Limp Bizkit, has died at age 48, the band introduced Saturday.

Shaped in Jacksonville, Fla., Limp Bizkit and lead singer Fred Durst rose to prominence within the late ’90s and early 2000s with its mixture of rock and hip-hop.

Rivers additionally sang backup vocals for the band, which topped radio charts with songs together with “Break Stuff,” “Nookie,” “Re-Organized” and “My Manner.”
