The seventh series of The Masked Singer on ITV reaches a thrilling stage as celebrities continue to be revealed in elaborate costumes. In the latest episode, just days before the semi-final, Red Panda was eliminated after performing the Black Eyed Peas’ hit “I Gotta Feeling.” Judges Maya Jama, Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross, and Mo Gilligan offered their final guesses: Jama suggested Chris Ramsey, McCall pointed to Brian Cox, Gilligan named Tom Fletcher from McFly, and Ross speculated Rufus Hound.
Harry Hill’s Revealing Moment
Comedian Harry Hill, renowned for hosting TV Burp in the 2000s, emerged from behind the Red Panda costume. Upon unmasking, Hill shared a lighthearted quip with host Joel Dommett: “I’m not a natural singer. My wife heard me the other day and thought I was choking on a Pot Noodle!”
When reflecting on the experience, Hill admitted mixed feelings: “No. Yes, of course I enjoyed it! The weird thing is, you put the thing on and you’ve got no inhibitions. The only downside is you’re breathing your own breath because it’s all trapped, and I had falafel for lunch.”
Recent Eliminations Build Excitement
Last week, viewers saw Strictly Come Dancing judge Anton du Beke unmasked as Arctic Fox following a stirring rendition of Barbra Streisand’s “Woman in Love.” Du Beke expressed his emotions: “Devastated naturally. Delighted to be able to perform but devastated to have been voted off!”
A longtime fan of the show, du Beke, married to Hannah Summers with whom he shares eight-year-old twins, participated to surprise his children. He noted: “It’s such a lovely show that’s been going a while. I wondered why no one ever asked me before! They have, I just haven’t had the time. It’s wonderfully done, a great show, and the thought of people trying to guess who you are.”
Other Notable Reveals
Earlier in the episode, singer Kate Nash was unveiled as Monkey after performing “As Long As He Needs Me” from the musical Oliver! Nash described her nerves: “I was so nervous about it, but then I got really nervous about the mask coming off and how it was going to feel singing without the mask. It’s like a little comfort zone; you’re not worrying about anything else when you’re in there. It was a unique experience, and it’s going to be hard to give her up.”
The series has seen several high-profile unmaskings in recent weeks. Shakespeare’s Sister’s Marcella Detroit was revealed as Gargoyle in the opening episodes. Before that, former Sex Pistols frontman John Lydon, known as Johnny Rotten, appeared as Yak, while rapper Professor Green hid behind Teabag. The premiere week featured BBC’s The One Show presenter Alex Jones as Disc Jockey.
The Masked Singer streams now on ITVX, keeping audiences guessing as the final approaches.
