In a stunning display of skill at Madison Square Garden in New York, Shakur Stevenson dismantled Teofimo Lopez with effortless precision, securing a unanimous decision victory to claim his fourth world championship.

A One-Sided Masterclass

Experts anticipated a fiercely competitive bout between Stevenson, a three-division champion, and Lopez, the defending WBO and Ring Magazine super lightweight titleholder known for victories over Vasiliy Lomachenko and Josh Taylor. Instead, Stevenson turned the fight into a showcase of his superior ring generalship, dominating all 12 rounds and losing at most one or two on the judges’ scorecards.

The scores reflected the lopsided nature of the contest: 119-109 across all three judges. Stevenson maintained perfect distance throughout, frustrating Lopez’s aggressive advances and landing crisp counters that left the Brooklyn fighter disjointed and ineffective.

Lopez Struggles to Mount Offense

Lopez, often ranked among the top pound-for-pound fighters entering the ring, appeared sluggish and unable to close the gap. He charged forward squarely too many times, exposing himself to Stevenson’s sharp jab and footwork. Despite his nickname ‘The Takeover,’ Lopez found himself outmaneuvered, unable to impose his style on a opponent who dictated every exchange.

Stevenson’s performance cements his status as a potential all-time great, blending defensive mastery with offensive opportunism in a fight that unfolded with remarkable ease for the challenger.
