Teyana Taylor turned heads on the red carpet at the 68th Grammy Awards held at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday evening. The 35-year-old Oscar nominee showcased her toned abs in a striking Tom Ford gown featuring an asymmetrical cut-out that revealed much of her midriff.
Red Carpet Glamour
Taylor commanded attention in the near-naked, glittering bronze dress, opting to go braless for a bold look. She elevated the ensemble with a $33,000 Tiffany & Co. necklace and matching $3,600 earrings. Posing confidently, she highlighted her sensational figure before entering the venue and snapping photos with Jamie Foxx.
Inside, Taylor joined Nikki Glaser on stage to present the Best Pop Vocal Album award to Lady Gaga. The singer was nominated for her first Grammy in the Best R&B Album category for Escape Room.
Recent Achievements and Oscar Nomination
Last month, Taylor earned the Best Supporting Actress award for her role as Perfidia Beverly Hills in One Battle After Another. Her rise from reality TV to Hollywood acclaim has been swift, including an Oscar nod. She recently starred in Ryan Murphy’s All’s Fair alongside Kim Kardashian, Naomi Watts, Niecy Nash, Sarah Paulson, and Glenn Close.
Despite the series receiving a 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Taylor triumphed at the Golden Globes. In her acceptance speech, she revealed she nearly skipped preparing one, believing victory unlikely. She credited director Paul Thomas Anderson, stating, ‘To Paul “Let ‘Em Cook” Thomas Anderson, thank you for your vision, your trust and your brilliance. My gratitude is endless.’
Taylor also expressed love for the cast, saying, ‘I love you, we love you and thank you so much for holding space for me and our entire cast.’ She shouted out her daughters, Iman ‘Junie’ Tayla Shumpert Jr., 10, and Rue Rose Shumpert, 5, who were watching from upstairs. Married to Iman Shumpert since 2016, she joked, ‘Y’all better be off those damn phones and watching me right now,’ calling her family her ‘grounding force.’
Addressing ‘Brown sisters and little Brown girls watching tonight,’ Taylor added, ‘Our softness is not a liability. Our depth is not too much. Our light does not need permission to shine. We belong in every room we walk into. Our voices matter and our dreams deserve space.’
Career Journey
Taylor first gained fame at 16 on MTV’s My Super Sweet 16 in 2007. Raised in Harlem, New York, her mother and manager, Nikki Taylor, guided her into music, dance, and fashion. At 15, she launched her music career and choreographed Beyoncé’s ‘Ring The Alarm’ video.
She later signed with Star Trak Entertainment, an Interscope Records imprint by Pharrell Williams, appearing in videos for Jay-Z and Kanye West. In 2020, Taylor took a hiatus from music, returning in 2025 with her fourth studio album, Escape Room, which secured her Grammy nod.
On her past ties to Kanye West, with whom she collaborated on the 2016 ‘Fade’ video and was signed to his G.O.O.D. Music label until 2020, Taylor shared in a Vanity Fair interview, ‘I don’t have to agree with everything that he do or say, but I’m not going to, like, abandon him and be like, “Yeah, eff that motherf*****.”‘ West faced backlash for antisemitic comments but later stated on X, ‘I am done with antisemitism. I love all people.’
