Italian Switch for Young Forward After West Brom Departure
Aston Villa forward Samuel Iling-Junior has finalized a loan transfer to Serie A club Pisa for the remainder of the season. The 22-year-old returns to Italy following an early termination of his loan spell with Championship side West Bromwich Albion.
Mixed Championship Spell Precedes Move
Iling-Junior made 24 appearances across all competitions for West Brom during the first half of the campaign, starting in 14 matches. The winger’s solitary goal for the club came during his first start against Leicester City in August.
reports Italy indicate Pisa, currently battling relegation in Italy’s second tier, moved quickly to secure the Villa player’s services after his West Brom departure was confirmed.
Recent Transfer History
The England youth international joined Aston Villa from Juventus in summer 2024 as part of the transfer that saw Douglas Luiz move to Turin. Enzo Barrenechea also joined Villa from Juventus during the same window.
Iling-Junior previously regained form during a productive loan spell at Middlesbrough under Michael Carrick after an unsuccessful stint at Bologna earlier in 2023.
Contract Status
Sources confirm Iling-Junior remains under contract with Aston Villa until 2029, with the Premier League club carefully managing the young attacker’s development through loan opportunities.
The temporary move to Pisa provides the former Chelsea academy product an opportunity for regular playing time in a competitive league environment as Villa continues to monitor his progress.
