Comedian Handles Automotive Troubles During Weekend Outing
Jay Leno was photographed addressing mechanical issues with his vintage vehicle along a Los Angeles roadway this past Saturday. The 75-year-old entertainer examined the engine compartment of a classic black automobile in Studio City while dressed in casual work attire.
Leno wore a light denim shirt with his phone and glasses visible in the front pockets, paired with dark jeans and black sneakers. His distinctive white-gray hair fell across his forehead as he focused on diagnosing the car’s problem.
Vehicle Expertise Follows Past Accidents
The sighting comes three years after Leno sustained significant burns from a steam car explosion in his private garage. A mechanic familiar with the incident stated pressurized gas ignited during maintenance on a 1907 steam-powered vehicle, requiring emergency response.
In late 2024, Leno survived another dangerous incident when he tumbled 60 feet down a rocky Pennsylvania hillside. Despite sustaining wrist fractures and severe facial bruising, he proceeded with a scheduled performance hours after the fall.
Personal Commitment Amid Health Challenges
Earlier this year, Leno addressed public reaction to his continued support for wife Mavis following her 2024 dementia diagnosis. During a podcast appearance, he expressed confusion about societal surprise regarding marital dedication.
“When you make vows, you live by them,” Leno remarked, noting that staying committed should represent normal behavior rather than exceptional conduct. The comedian recalled inappropriate suggestions about pursuing other relationships after his wife’s diagnosis.
Leno maintains residence in Los Angeles where he continues his lifelong passion for automotive restoration and performance.
