A 37-year-old British father of two has died after falling from a sixth-floor balcony at a hotel in Torremolinos, a popular resort on Spain’s Costa del Sol. The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday morning while his partner and two young children, both under 10, slept inside the room.

Emergency Response and Initial Findings

Emergency services responded quickly to multiple calls but could not save the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The unnamed hotel is now the focus of an investigation led by Spain’s National Police.

His partner reported to authorities that the couple had shared drinks before she retired to bed. He remained on the balcony alone, and she maintains the fall was accidental.

Recent Similar Incidents on Costa del Sol

This tragedy follows other accidents in the region. In May last year, 24-year-old British tourist Harry Watts from Hessle, near Kingston upon Hull, suffered critical injuries after falling from a first-floor room at the Hard Rock Hotel in Puerto Banus near Marbella. The drop equated to a three-storey fall due to the building’s location.

Friends launched a GoFundMe campaign for Watts, who sustained life-threatening injuries including a brain bleed, multiple fractures, and severe internal damage. His friend Luke Coupland described the event as a “horrific freak accident” after Watts was admitted to the Regional University Hospital of Malaga.

Late last month, on January 27, a 31-year-old Moroccan migrant died in Torremolinos when a palm tree toppled onto her during a storm. She was en route to collect her residency card at the time.
