A devastating house fire in Napanee, Ontario, claimed one life and left another man in critical condition after breaking out Saturday night.
Emergency Response on Switzerville Road
Emergency crews rushed to a residence on Switzerville Road just before 9:30 p.m., where firefighters already battled intense flames and suspected people remained trapped inside.
Victims and Escape Attempts
A 59-year-old man leaped from a second-floor balcony to flee the inferno and arrived at the hospital in critical condition. Another resident, aged 34, escaped with minor injuries. Search efforts uncovered human remains within the structure, though officials have yet to confirm the identity of the 65-year-old man who lived there and went missing during the blaze. A postmortem examination will verify the remains.
All three men shared the home.
Ongoing Investigation
Firefighters secured the scene through the night. Investigators from the Ontario Fire Marshal’s office now probe the cause of the deadly fire.
