Viewers of BBC Breakfast voiced strong outrage on Tuesday after Ed Miliband appeared on the program to voice support for Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer.
Calls for Resignation Ignored
Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar recently urged Starmer to step down as Prime Minister. However, Miliband rejected this view during the interview.
Presenter Jon Kay pressed Miliband on how much time Starmer has remaining in office. Miliband responded: “Well, what I think happened yesterday was that the Labour Party as a whole looked over the precipice and thought the right thing to do was to support our leader, who was elected 18 months ago with a clear mandate to change the country so it works again for ordinary working people. He needs to be able to get on with that job, so that is the decision that we took.”
Accusations of Bias
The exchange drew criticism, with some describing the interview as ‘toe-curling’ and accusing the show of bias in handling the discussion.
