Toronto police launched an investigation after multiple shots pierced the windows of a downtown restaurant on Monday afternoon. Officers arrived at the scene near Queen Street West and Portland Street shortly after 4:45 p.m. following reports of gunfire.

Investigators discovered clear signs of shooting at 502 Queen St. W., home to the Asian fusion spot Miss Ivy. A glass door showed signs of shattering from bullets, while another window bore three distinct gunshot holes. No one suffered injuries in the incident.

Suspects reportedly escaped in a dark-colored vehicle, though no detailed descriptions are available yet.

Second Daylight Shooting in Nine Days

This marks the second gunfire episode at the same intersection within nine days, both occurring in broad daylight without casualties. The earlier event took place last Sunday.

Adrian Ravinsky, a nearby resident and local business owner, described the repeated violence as alarming. “It’s the second time in a week, so it’s a little scary,” he said. Ravinsky noted striking similarities between the incidents, including bullet casings found in the same location. “The only recognizable difference is that last Sunday there were a couple discernible bullet holes, and today the whole window was totally shot out. It looks almost like a carbon copy.”

He encountered the damage both times while walking his dog.

A local woman expressed concern for the neighborhood’s safety. “I’m just hoping the business owners are okay and people are not targeting people in such a nice neighbourhood,” she said.

A worker in the area called the events disturbing. “I’m scared for other people; some of my co-workers were scared to go out after that,” he noted. Another added, “Two shootings in one week is not normal, but some people not understanding what happening around the street.”

Surveillance cameras line the stretch of Queen Street near Portland, east of Bathurst, potentially aiding the probe. Police temporarily closed Queen Street in both directions between Portland and Denison Avenue but have since reopened it.

The investigation continues. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact Toronto police or submit tips anonymously to Crime Stoppers.
