Pep Guardiola insists Manchester City will drop points during the Premier League title race against Arsenal, despite securing a 2-1 victory over Newcastle United.

Match Highlights

Nico O’Reilly scored twice for City at the Etihad Stadium, first putting them ahead before Lewis Hall equalized for Newcastle. O’Reilly’s second goal in the 27th minute clinched the win for Guardiola’s team.

This result places Manchester City just two points behind leaders Arsenal, who face Tottenham in the north London derby on Sunday. City now boast three straight Premier League wins, while Arsenal have managed only two victories in their last seven league matches.

Guardiola’s Cautious Outlook

Guardiola doubts his side will triumph in all 11 remaining Premier League fixtures. “Today it looks good, but I promise many things will happen,” he stated post-match. “We won’t win every game—I feel it. Arsenal might, but not us.”

He highlighted upcoming challenges: “FA Cup, Champions League, travels, Carabao Cup final, international breaks—injuries and more will come. The best approach is to relax, focus on Leeds next, and improve our level.”

Reflecting on the Newcastle game, Guardiola added: “It wasn’t perfect or ideal, but we acted as a team—the way we must in key Premier League and Champions League matches against tough opponents like Newcastle.”
