Officers in Alice Springs fired shots at a 38-year-old driver who allegedly sped toward a police officer on a footpath and a stationary patrol vehicle.
Details of the Confrontation
The man drove a blue Mazda BT-50 directly at the officer and the parked police car. In response, an officer discharged three rounds, striking the oncoming vehicle.
A police spokesman stated, “No one was injured by the fired rounds.” The vehicle then slammed into the rear of the police car with considerable force.
Injuries and Response
The officer inside the patrol vehicle sustained minor injuries and was transported to Alice Springs Hospital for treatment. thorities took the alleged offender to the hospital for prectionary evaluation.
