A 71-year-old man struck by a vehicle Saturday evening in Montreal’s Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough has succumbed to his injuries in hospital.

Incident Overview

The collision occurred around 7:20 p.m. as the pedestrian attempted to cross Grenet Street near De Mesy Street, between two intersections. Officials indicate the man likely suffered a medical emergency, collapsing onto the roadway before an oncoming vehicle hit him.

The driver, a 59-year-old man, could not brake in time to avoid the impact. He sustained no physical injuries but received treatment for shock.

Investigation Underway

Authorities continue to probe the crash’s causes, examining factors such as vehicle speed, driver distraction, and potential influences from the surrounding urban environment.
