Arsenal players represent the club on the international stage during the break, with Mikel Arteta’s squad preparing for FA Cup quarter-final action against Southampton. The team enters this period following a loss to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final. Despite the setback, Arsenal leads the Premier League by nine points over City and remains in contention for the Champions League title. A quadruple now seems out of reach, but victory in the FA Cup offers a path to silverware.

Injury Setbacks Emerge During International Break

Several key players have withdrawn from international duty due to injuries, raising concerns ahead of crucial matches. Three England squad members—Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice, and Noni Madueke—faced issues. Madueke sustained a knee injury during a friendly and will miss the Southampton clash while remaining doubtful for the Champions League encounter with Sporting CP.

Saka and Rice departed the England camp on Saturday after medical assessments. England manager Thomas Tuchel explained: “The risk for making it worse was clearly too big; they were both in discomfort. So it made no sense for them to stay. Everyone will be out for quite some days but not dramatically.”

More Absences for Arteta

Piero Hincapie, sent home from Ecuador duty, is also likely to sit out the FA Cup game, creating uncertainty for the Sporting CP fixture and the Premier League matchup against Bournemouth.

Martin Odegaard misses Norway action due to a knee problem but shows positive recovery signs. Norway boss Stale Solbakken stated: “When he will be ready, I don’t know. But it is good progress.”

Declan Rice Earns High Praise from Teammate

Despite sitting out England’s match against Uruguay after an extended rest, Declan Rice receives acclaim from Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson. The pair shares a strong on-pitch partnership, with Anderson noting: “It’s a really good partnership; he’s made me comfortable. The relationship on the pitch is really good. I’m trying to learn from the way he plays, bits of advice, putting his arm around me, building the relationship.”
