Chocolate lovers often debate the best premium options, and a recent family taste test between Marks & Spencer (M&S) and Harrods reveals clear preferences across milk, white, and dark varieties.

Milk Chocolate Comparison

Laura Khoshaba and her mother Ann started with milk chocolate. The Harrods version drew mixed reactions, likened to “Easter egg chocolate.” Laura called it “really average,” while Ann said she was “not impressed” by the flavor.

Switching to M&S milk chocolate, Ann shared that she “loves M&S chocolate.” She praised its aesthetics as “gorgeous.” Upon tasting, Laura found it “much better than the Harrods one,” noting it tasted “less fake.” Ann highlighted its “smooth” texture and the noticeable cocoa flavor.

White Chocolate Verdict

Both enjoy white chocolate. Ann compared the Harrods bar to Milkybar and enthused, “It’s really good because I love white chocolate.” For M&S, she described it as “very good,” and Laura admitted she “can’t decide between those two” as favorites.

Dark Chocolate Results

The Harrods dark chocolate, at 70% cocoa, impressed both. Laura called it “nice and smooth” and “quite sweet but not very sweet,” adding, “For me it’s perfect.” Ann agreed, labeling it “very good dark chocolate.”

M&S dark chocolate, with 55% cocoa, also shone. Laura said she “really liked” it, and Ann suggested it might be one of her “favourite dark chocolates.” Laura urged, “Guys, try the M&S dark chocolate,” while Ann declared it a “winner.”

Health Benefits of Dark Chocolate

Dark chocolate, especially high-cocoa varieties, offers antioxidants like flavonoids. These compounds reduce inflammation, improve blood flow, and lower blood pressure, supporting heart health. They may boost HDL cholesterol, enhance brain function, manage blood sugar, and elevate mood through endorphins and serotonin. Consume in moderation to avoid excess calories.

Viewers noted the test was not blind and questioned cocoa thresholds for health benefits, suggesting 90% or higher for optimal effects.
