Peter Phillips and his fiancée, Harriet Sperling, marked a milestone at the Royal Family’s Easter Sunday service at St George’s Chapel in Windsor. King Charles and Queen Camilla led senior royals, including the Prince and Princess of Wales, in the traditional gathering on April 5.
The Heartwarming Family Debut
Peter, 48, and NHS nurse Harriet, 45, introduced her 13-year-old daughter, Georgina, to the public for the first time. Georgina, whom Harriet shares with ex-husband Antonio St John Sperling, walked alongside Peter’s daughters from his previous marriage to Autumn Kelly: 15-year-old Savannah and 14-year-old Isla Phillips.
The trio displayed a strong sisterly bond, flanking Georgina protectively as they passed photographers. This united front signals harmony ahead of Peter and Harriet’s wedding on June 6 at All Saints Church in Kemble, Cirencester.
Building a Blended Royal Family
Like Princess Beatrice, who embraces stepson Christopher ‘Wolfie’ Woolf from her husband’s prior relationship, Peter and Harriet blend their families. Autumn Kelly, divorced from Peter in 2019, maintains close ties with the royals and lived at Gatcombe Estate post-split to support Savannah and Isla.
Georgina reportedly met the royal family at Balmoral last year, following Peter’s introduction of Harriet to his daughters shortly after they began dating in May 2024.
Harriet’s Journey as a Single Mother
Harriet has openly shared her challenges raising Georgina alone. In a personal essay published in March 2024, she described their decade-long journey: “In the earlier years of my journey as a single mother to my daughter, resources were scarce, and the future was uncertain.”
She highlighted their resilience: “Yet, in the absence of material security, I discovered the strength and life that comes from true selfless love. A love that is able to be solely devoted to your child.” Harriet added, “This extraordinary bond between a single mother and her daughter… is a testament to the strength of the human spirit.”
A Swift Royal Romance
Peter met Harriet at a sporting event soon after his split from Lindsay Wallace. They went public at the Badminton Horse Trials in Gloucestershire, holding hands. Friends describe the couple as “so comfortable together, they look like they have known each other for ages.”
Harriet, born to Mary Hoskins and Rupert Sanders, focuses on early brain development in babies. She has bonded with Princess Anne, Zara Tindall, and others, attending Royal Ascot in the royal carriage procession and recent events like Cheltenham Festival with Zara and Mike Tindall.
Kate-Inspired Fashion Choices
At the Easter service, Harriet channeled the Princess of Wales’s style in a cornflower blue polka dot co-ord by Beulah London, paired with Kiki McDonough earrings, Emmy London pumps, and a Jane Taylor hat—designs favored by Kate.
Earlier at Cheltenham, she wore a Suzannah London coat dress, Anya Hindmarch bag, and Penelope Chilvers boots, echoing Kate’s preferences.
Wedding Expectations
The couple announced their engagement last August after a year together. Former royal butler Grant Harrold predicts a modern affair: “Historically, royal weddings for divorcees were low-key, but times are very different now.”
He anticipates an “all-white wedding” despite traditions: “I think it’ll be a full-blown white wedding affair… It’ll be entirely up to them.” Captain Mark Phillips, Peter’s father and Princess Anne’s ex-husband, is expected to attend, as he did Peter’s 2008 wedding.
