A woman dangled precariously from a carnival ride in Mexico before a quick-thinking man caught her mid-fall, preventing a tragic outcome.
The Terrifying Incident
On April 2, at the Easter fair in Ometepec, the ride known as ‘The Hammer’ began swinging wildly out of control. Footage captured the chaotic scene as heavy jolts dislodged one woman from her seat. A young boy approached the ramp with a smile just as the ride flipped over.
Dramatic Rescue
Three men nearby sprang into action, racing to position themselves below the falling woman. She landed safely in one man’s arms inches from the ground and walked away, though visibly shaken from the ordeal.
Injuries and Response
Four other riders sustained injuries in the mishap. Officials confirmed two were transported to a local medical center, while the others received on-site evaluation. None faced life-threatening conditions.
The Guerrero Internal Risk Management and Civil Protection Secretariat classified the event as a malfunction. Witnesses reported it happened during rider securing, when a child allegedly started the ride. Police are searching for the child and his parents, who fled the scene.
Ongoing Investigation
Inspectors from the Guerrero Internal Risk Management and Civil Protection Secretariat verified that all carnival rides possessed required permits and insurance. Technical teams are examining the ride to identify the cause and confirm safety compliance. The agency stated: “Technical personnel are conducting the corresponding inspection to determine the causes of the event and ensure that necessary safety standards are met.” Future events will implement preventive measures.
