Irish actress Nicola Coughlan hosts the next episode of Saturday Night Live UK on April 25, joined by rock band Foo Fighters as musical guests. Aimee Lou Wood follows as host on May 2, with British artist Meek performing.
Episode Details and Hosts
Both actresses deliver opening monologues and star in sketches during the 75-minute live broadcasts from London. They join a lineup of recent hosts including Tina Fey, Jamie Dornan, Riz Ahmed, and Jack Whitehall.
Nicola Coughlan’s Spotlight
Galway-born Coughlan, 39, rose to fame as anxious student Clare Devlin in the Channel 4 series Derry Girls and shy debutante Penelope Featherington in Netflix’s Bridgerton. Foo Fighters, who have guested nine times on the U.S. version of SNL, accompany her episode, marking the show’s return after a one-week break.
Aimee Lou Wood’s Turn
Award-winning actress Lou Wood, 32, stars in hits like Sex Education and The White Lotus. She also appears in upcoming Beatles biopic films directed by Sam Mendes. Singer-songwriter Meek, whose real name is Georgia Meek, provides the music for her hosting debut.
Show Background
SNL UK launched on March 21 with Tina Fey fronting the star-studded premiere. In her monologue, Fey compared wedding planning to a royal wedding, stating: “Literally, in that the whole thing could be ruined if my uncle turns up.” The quip referenced Prince Andrew, recently stripped of titles due to ties with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
The Sky Original mirrors the NBC format, featuring monologues, topical sketches, and a U.K. edition of Weekend Update. Regular cast members include actor Hammed Animashaun, comedians Ayoade Bamgboye, and Larry Dean. New episodes air on Sky and Now TV starting April 25.
