Australian singer and actor Dean Geyer, 40, and his wife, US actress Jillian Murray, are expecting their first child. Geyer shared the joyful announcement on Instagram this week with a tender photo of the couple. In the image, Murray cradles her baby bump while Geyer stands behind her, arms wrapped around her in a loving embrace.
Geyer captioned the post, expressing his deep gratitude: ‘Feeling beyond blessed that God has trusted us with this incredible gift. I’ve always dreamed of being a dad and I couldn’t be more excited to take this journey with @jillianmurrayofficial as we grow our little family.’
He also mentioned their pets, Lyric and Hazel, adding a lighthearted note: ‘Lyric and Hazel better start practicing their big sibling skills. And let’s be honest, isn’t Jill gonna be such a fierce mama?’
Heartfelt Reactions
The announcement drew an outpouring of congratulations from friends and fans. Murray responded enthusiastically: ‘You’re going to be the most incredible daddy. I can’t wait!’
Heartland actress Cindy Busby commented, ‘The hottest family ever! Congratulations you two! That baby is already so lucky!’ Broadway star Laura Osnes added, ‘Beyond thrilled for both of you. Best news ever.’ Other supporters, like Jamie-Lee Spears, exclaimed, ‘Omg!!! Congrats!’ One fan captured the widespread excitement: ‘I’m so, so, so beyond happy for you both! You are both going to make the most amazing parents!’
Career Highlights
Born in South Africa, Geyer gained prominence as a third-place finalist on the 2006 season of Australian Idol, behind Jessica Mauboy and winner Damien Leith. He transitioned to acting, joining the cast of Neighbours in 2008 as Ty Harper for a year alongside stars like Margot Robbie.
Geyer’s film debut came in 2010 with Never Back Down 2: The Beatdown. He landed a major US role in 2012 as Brody Weston on Glee, portraying Lea Michele’s love interest. Reflecting on the experience, Geyer said, ‘Lea is still one of my favourite co-stars that I have had the pleasure of working with. She is extremely hard-working and super fun to be around. Her work ethic is so strong it forces you to always be on top of your game, and that’s something I looked forward to every day on set. I definitely learned a lot.’
He continued, ‘When jumping onto a hugely successful and established show like Glee, I went into it expecting to be known as the “new guy” for at least a month, but that wasn’t the case at all. I almost immediately felt welcomed, and to be totally honest, out of everyone, Lea was the most friendly to me.’
Personal Life
Geyer and Murray, known for roles in Code Black and MTV’s Awkward, began dating in 2010 and married in September 2017. Geyer was previously engaged to The Veronicas’ Lisa Origliasso in 2008 after dating since 2007, but the relationship ended shortly after the proposal.
