Warner Bros unveiled its upcoming film lineup at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, capping the event with a world premiere of the first seven minutes of Dune: Part Three, the highly anticipated finale to Denis Villeneuve’s trilogy.

Star-Studded Presentation

The showcase featured appearances by major stars including Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman, and Sandra Bullock. The segment built excitement with a dramatic stage entrance: troops representing Emperor Paul Atreides marched into the Dolby Theatre at Caesars Palace, some soaring overhead on harnesses. Director Denis Villeneuve then joined Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, and Jason Momoa to introduce the sci-fi epic, set 17 years after the events of Dune: Part Two.

Cast and Director Insights

Villeneuve described the film as an “action-packed thriller” that delves deeper emotionally than its predecessors. The story explores Paul Atreides confronting the fallout from his decisions, including a fractured romance with Chani.

Chalamet, reprising his role as Paul, shared: “He’s become this worst vision, and he’s struggling to retain the parts of himself he sees the most, still trying to protect his family while becoming the all-powerful Dark Emperor of the universe.”

Unforgettable Opening Sequence

The footage opens on a dramatic planetary invasion: rectangular spaceships descend amid falling rain, astonishing the troops under Stilgar’s command, played by Javier Bardem. The dark, tense visuals evoke the intensity of the D-Day sequence in Saving Private Ryan. Landing craft-style doors deploy troops into a deceptive silence, shattered by a sudden enemy assault on the infantry.

The seven-minute preview transitioned into an extended trailer highlighting a battle-scarred Paul, drawing thunderous applause from attendees.

Release Details

Dune: Part Three arrives in theaters on December 18, 2026, positioning Villeneuve for potential Best Director recognition in 2027 after previous nominations.
