Lucy Punch and Dame Joanna Lumley reprise their roles in the first-look trailer for Amandaland series two, the hit spin-off from Motherland. The preview showcases Amanda’s ongoing adventures as a social-climbing mumfluencer and her snooty mother in London’s South Harlesden, known locally as SoHa.
Trailer Highlights
Amanda remains in the ‘lesser’ borough, balancing teenagers, her Senuous online brand, and a co-lab job at Kitchen’s Bathrooms and Kitchens. She celebrates the arrival of a new hipster coffee shop as a sign of gentrification, proudly displaying takeaway cups while declaring, “She came, she saw, she gentrified.”
The trailer opens with Amanda on stage at her daughter’s secondary school, backed by a dramatic black-and-white headshot. She addresses the audience like a TED Talk speaker: “Welcome everyone. You’ve probably seen my content and assumed it’s another lifestyle brand.” Later, she tells students, “I use social media to touch people.”
Classic moments include Amanda faking a workout for her vlog. She sprays hydration mist to simulate sweat, feigns exhaustion, and tells the camera, “I’ve just smashed 7km so you’ll have to excuse my appearance.”
Dame Joanna Lumley delivers a sharp line to her daughter: “You post a picture of yourself eating cakes, and that’s a job?”
New Plot Twists and Cast
Mid-series, Amanda eyes a large house for sale and seeks financial help from her mother, Felicity. However, Felicity’s advancing age raises questions about her living independently.
Amanda reunites with friends Anne (Philippa Dunne) and Fi (Rochenda Sandall), plus newcomer Abs (Harriet Webb), the straightforward ex-wife of basement neighbor Mal (Samuel Anderson). Abs recommends The Handmaid’s Tale, prompting Amanda’s literal response: “Love anything handmade.” Flirty tension persists between Amanda and Mal, complicated by Abs. Mal’s bromance with Abs’s new husband JJ (Ekow Quartey) endures, while Fi embraces dog walking after Della (Siobhán McSweeney) joins a cruise.
Anne stays Amanda’s steadfast best friend as the group tackles teen challenges like exams, relationships, and the school prom finale.
Show Background
Amandaland premiered in 2025, following Amanda’s divorce, move to South Harlesden, and parenting struggles. The first series featured six episodes and a Christmas special with Jennifer Saunders as a guest star.
