Respected New South Wales police officer and devoted father of two, Morgan Spruce, passed away at age 41 on April 19 following a prolonged fight against bowel cancer. He leaves behind his wife, Emma, and young sons, Darcy and Harvey.
Service and Legacy
A member of the NSW Fallen Police Facebook group shared details of Spruce’s career, noting he trained in class 331 and served at Tuggerah Lakes. The post confirmed his death stemmed from the cancer battle and highlighted his surviving family.
Community Tributes
Fellow group members expressed heartfelt condolences and fond memories. One wrote, “RIP Morgan. You were a genuine bloke. We knew something was funny when you reacted with that singular chuckle.”
Another suggested support from NSW Police Legacy, but the original poster clarified that Spruce had resigned prior to his passing. “He didn’t die on the job or get medically retired, so his family don’t qualify,” they explained. “They were still amazing and gave a great list of resources the family can access for grief support. He had a good few years with his family since leaving.”
Fundraising Support
Friend Alex White launched a GoFundMe campaign on April 10 to rally community support. The page description states: “Following the devastating news of Morgan’s cancer diagnosis, I have set up this as a central point for all of the different communities and supports in Morgan and Emma’s lives to be able to share their love and support.”
The fundraiser aims to assist the family, including sons Darcy and Harvey, now and in the future. It has raised $8,835 to date.
