Comedian Katherine Ryan suspects her former Eastern European housekeeper stole several designer coats from her home after they vanished without explanation.
Missing Jackets Spark Suspicion
Ryan initially thought her husband, Bobby Koostra, had discarded the items during one of his decluttering sessions. Koostra, known for his tidiness, denied throwing away the jackets. The 42-year-old comic later concluded the housekeeper might be responsible, especially after catching her photographing Koostra’s clothes.
The missing pieces included a Prada puffer jacket and a custom Alexander Wang coat featuring a felt artwork of comedian Romesh Ranganathan’s face, complete with tassels.
Housekeeper’s Unusual Requests
During an episode of the Olivia’s House podcast with Olivia Attwood, Ryan recounted the incidents. “She was Eastern European. She was a lovely woman. We only had her for a short time, and she had this random son who was like her same age and Jamaican,” Ryan explained.
Ryan described discovering the housekeeper snapping photos of her husband’s wardrobe multiple times. The housekeeper claimed the pictures were for her “adult Jamaican son,” who later inquired about moving into the home. Ryan firmly declined the request.
‘And then one time she was like, “Will my adult Jamaican son stay here?” And I was like, “No, no.”‘
The pair parted ways shortly after. Ryan noted she prefers minimal household staff and stores her seasonal coats carefully.
Family Background
Ryan married Koostra, her high school sweetheart from Canada, after reconnecting in 2018. The couple has three young children: son Fred, 4; daughter Fenna, 3; and Holland, 6 months. Ryan also raises 16-year-old daughter Violet from a previous relationship.
Comments on Violet’s Father
On the Juicy Scoop podcast with Heather McDonald, Ryan opened up about Violet’s father, whom she has never publicly identified. She criticized his minimal involvement, stating he has made no financial sacrifices or significant efforts.
‘He’s not a bad person, but he’s never made any sacrifices, never paid anything for her, just kind of texts her… Like, “Hey, love you. How are you?” Which is better than no contact. But he hasn’t been the type of dad that you would want for your daughter.’
Ryan emphasized protecting Violet’s perspective as she grows older, allowing her to form her own views.
