Two young boys, J’Saun, aged three, and Xaliq, aged one, tragically lost their lives in a house fire in Wolverhampton.

Incident Details

Emergency services responded to a blaze at a property on Mason Street around 8:30 p.m. on Friday evening. Firefighters, equipped with breathing apparatus, entered the burning house and rescued the two children. Despite their efforts, the boys were pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other children and a woman had already escaped the property before crews arrived. Paramedics assessed them on site, but none required hospital treatment.

The scene showed signs of intense damage, including scorched walls, smoke-blackened ground-floor windows, a smashed first-floor window, and debris such as a mattress scattered outside. A police cordon remained in place through Saturday afternoon, with forensic officers entering the property in protective gear.

Arrest and Investigation

A woman faces arrest on suspicion of causing or allowing the deaths of the two children. Authorities have released her on bail pending further inquiries.

West Midlands Police continue to collaborate with the fire service to determine the fire’s cause. A police spokesman stated: “Sadly, despite the best efforts of the emergency services, nothing could be done to save them and they were pronounced dead at the scene. The family of the two boys have asked that their privacy is respected as they come to terms with the tragedy.”

Detective Inspector David Cooper commented: “Our investigation to establish the full circumstances surrounding the fire continues. We are supporting the family of the two young boys at this devastating time.”

Officials urge anyone with information to contact police via 101, quoting log 5640 of April 24.
