Former Storage Wars castmates have pledged to contribute toward funeral expenses for Darrell Sheets, who died at age 67 from an apparent suicide on April 22 in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
Family Support from Co-Stars
Sheets leaves behind on-off partner Kimber Wuerfel, son Brandon, 42, estranged daughter Tiffany, and granddaughter Zoie, 21. His colleagues aim to ease the family’s burden during this difficult time.
Dan Dotson, 63, a fellow auctioneer on the show, indicated that the family may opt for a simple gathering. “[Darrell’s family] might just do something small and quaint and easy for them,” Dotson stated. “I know that we would all chip in and help and try to make it right for them if they had anything else in mind that they would want to do.”
Dotson and his wife, Laura Dotson, have spoken with co-star Rene Nezhoda about potential contributions. “We just kind of talked about it a little bit [with Rene],” Dotson added. “I’m sure the cast would be all good with [pitching in for funeral costs], and I’m sure production would be good, and the network would be good with doing something if they could just figure out what that something is.”
The group prioritizes aligning with the family’s preferences. Fans have also inquired about ways to pay respects, with Dotson noting, “I know that the public would love to know, [and] a lot of his fans would like to participate and show their respect. I just wish I had answers.” He mentioned receiving outreach from supporters puzzled by the circumstances.
Career and Recent Struggles
Sheets retired to Arizona, where he operated the antique store Havasu Show Me Your Junk. He featured across 13 seasons of Storage Wars, with his final appearance in 2023.
Recent social media posts highlighted Sheets’ distress from an alleged cyberbullying campaign. He described a stalker using spoof numbers and fake aliases to impersonate him, harass local businesses, and extort money. Nezhoda has called on authorities to investigate these claims.
A police spokesperson confirmed awareness of the cyberbullying reports, stating they form part of the ongoing probe. On March 9, Sheets posted about being hacked by an “evil person” who fabricated content, including false claims about his sexuality and a children’s arcade owner. He warned that threats had escalated to his workplace.
Two days later, in his last post, Sheets detailed a three-year ordeal, insisting the stalker—not him—targeted small businesses using his identity.
