Hollywood actress Gwen Farrell Adair passed away at the age of 93 in Los Angeles on Thursday, April 30. Her son, Keith Farrell, confirmed the news, though the cause of death remains undisclosed.

Television and Film Roles

Farrell gained recognition for portraying a nurse across 26 episodes of the iconic war comedy-drama series M*A*S*H, starting in 1972. She also appeared in notable films including Coffy (1973), Earthquake (1974), and Billy Jack Goes to Washington (1977).

Diverse Legacy in Boxing

Beyond acting, Farrell carved out a unique path in the boxing world. Starting in 1980 in California, she served as a referee, earning respect for her confidence, fairness, and composure. Her family highlights how she broke barriers in the sport, demonstrating strength in unexpected ways.

Family Background and Tribute

Born in Austin, Texas, Farrell embodied strength, character, and resilience throughout her life. Her mother, Lovie Yancey, founded the popular Fatburger restaurant chain. The family describes her journey as extraordinary, with her on-screen moments in M*A*S*H representing just a glimpse of her impact.

“Today, our family is heartbroken to share the passing of Gwen Farrell Adair,” the family stated on a GoFundMe page launched to raise $13,000 for funeral and memorial expenses. They emphasize that her true legacy lies in her real-world presence and daily grace: “But her true legacy was built in the real world through her strength, her presence, and the way she carried herself every single day.”
