President Donald Trump has revealed detailed renderings of a temporary 4,000-seat stadium on the White House South Lawn, set to host the first UFC event ever at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Landmark Event for America’s 250th Anniversary

This unprecedented UFC card, dubbed UFC Freedom 250, forms part of celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Scheduled for July 15, fighters will compete in a historic showcase with the White House serving as the dramatic backdrop for global broadcasts.

Stadium Design and Features

The arced temporary structure features two makeshift arches over the Octagon, perfectly framing the President’s residence for television cameras. From the reverse angle, the Washington Monument provides a striking view. After over a year of planning, construction nears completion for this one-of-a-kind venue.

Fight Card Highlights

The main event pits lightweight champions Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje in a unification bout, with the Georgian fighter returning after a hiatus. The co-main event showcases Alex Pereira against top-ranked heavyweight Ciryl Gane. Although rumors swirled about returns from Jon Jones and Conor McGregor, those matchups did not materialize.

Trump’s Vision and Fighter Reactions

During a press briefing in the Oval Office, Trump displayed the renderings with fighters including Gaethje and Topuria positioned behind the Resolute Desk. “I’m a big sports fan. There are no people tougher in sports than the people behind me. These are the toughest. I know them all,” Trump declared. He described the bout as the “greatest show on earth” and noted that up to 100,000 spectators can view the action via eight large screens around Washington, D.C.

Justin Gaethje expressed gratitude, stating, “What an unbelievable honour. To have a president that’s willing to go against an upstream and against the norms is truly special. That’s why you got my vote. And it’s why we’re such a great nation right now compared to where we were.”

Event Logistics

UFC CEO Dana White revealed that fighters will make walkouts directly from the White House to the Octagon. Weigh-ins occur the day prior at the Lincoln Memorial. Attendees face rigorous security screenings before entering the grounds. Commentator Joe Rogan recently called the spectacle “insane,” highlighting its groundbreaking nature.
