Kris Jenner has addressed speculation about her relationship with Meghan Markle by sharing a special Mother’s Day gift from the Duchess of Sussex on Instagram. The post highlights a thoughtful gesture ahead of the U.S. Mother’s Day on Sunday.
Thoughtful Mother’s Day Surprise
On Wednesday, Kris Jenner posted a photo of a basket from Meghan’s lifestyle brand, As Ever. The gift includes new candles named after the birth dates of Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, limited-edition Mother’s Day chocolates, and a personal handwritten note from Meghan.
Jenner captioned the Instagram Story: “Thank you @meghan @aseverofficial for the beautiful Mother’s Day gifts! These candles smell so delicious!! Happy Mother’s Day!!!”
Meghan’s note reads: “Dear Kris, Happy Mother’s Day to the most maternal woman in the world.”
Context from Last Year’s ‘Photogate’ Row
The gesture follows controversy last November when photos of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at Kris Jenner’s birthday party in West Hollywood surfaced online. The event, held at Jeff Bezos’s home, drew Hollywood’s elite, but the images on Jenner and Kim Kardashian’s Instagram accounts sparked backlash due to coinciding with Remembrance Day in the UK.
The photos, showing the couple enjoying the party, were quickly removed. Kim Kardashian addressed the incident on the Khloe in Wonderland podcast, explaining: “Mom and Meghan have been friends for some years now and they have a really sweet relationship.”
She added: “We took a photo and then I think we were all going through them. We’re all on, you know, communicating about like what we’re going to post. We’re never ones to post without permission. We are like it’s not who we are. We’re very respectful. Yeah, like we have photo we have the craziest, funnest photos from that night, you know, but we were posting just like fun photos and so dignified photos.”
Kardashian noted they received approval to post but later learned the couple preferred removal due to the timing: “We were told that it was totally cool to post and then after it was posted, I think they realised it was Remembrance Day and they didn’t want to be seen at a party even though it’s already up. And then it was taken down. And then I think they realised, like this was so silly!”
Earlier that evening, Harry and Meghan attended the Baby2Baby Gala and posed with Serena Williams. Kardashian clarified: “Well, it’s like a charity event. So, like, that was fine, but maybe not partying and dancing on the dance floor or whatever. So we took them down to respect Remembrance Day.”
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have not publicly commented on the photos.
