Firearms and Drugs Seized in Western Melbourne Raid
Authorities have apprehended a 51-year-old man in Melbourne’s western suburbs, alleging the discovery of multiple firearms, imitation weapons, illicit substances, and a machete at his residence. The arrest followed a search of a property in Sunshine on Thursday, conducted by officers from the illicit firearms squad in collaboration with the Viper taskforce.
Extensive Arsenal and Illicit Substances Uncovered
During the search, law enforcement officials reportedly confiscated a significant cache of items. These included six operational firearms, an imitation pistol that had been modified to discharge live ammunition, and two additional imitation pistols. The seizure also encompassed various firearm components, materials designated for firearm manufacturing, and detailed schematics and blueprints related to weapon production. Among the firearms discovered were two Category A rifles.
In addition to the weaponry, the search yielded quantities of methylamphetamine, steroids, and testosterone. A machete was also found at the premises.
Charges Filed Against Suspect
The 51-year-old man now faces a series of charges. These include possessing a traffickable quantity of firearms, manufacturing firearms, and being a prohibited individual found in possession of a firearm. Further charges have been laid concerning the alleged trafficking and possession of methylamphetamine.
