Comedian Kathy Griffin was recently photographed in Los Angeles, taking precautions to shield her face from the sun with a wide-brimmed hat. The outing occurred on Sunday, August 16, where the 65-year-old entertainer was seen sporting a casual ensemble, including a white KCRW t-shirt, wine-colored pants, and Nike sneakers. Her signature red-tinted hair was visible beneath the hat, complemented by matte lipstick.

Kathy Griffin’s Third Facelift and Candid Revelations

This public appearance comes approximately one year after Griffin underwent her third facelift, a procedure that reportedly cost $218,000. The Emmy-winning comedian has been open about her multiple cosmetic surgeries, aiming to rejuvenate her appearance. She enlisted the services of Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Ben Talei for this latest procedure.

Griffin has not shied away from discussing the realities of such surgeries. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight in October 2025, she described the process as intensely painful. “It’s painful, and when people say it isn’t, they’re lying,” Griffin stated. She elaborated on her specific requests to the surgeon, humorously recalling, “They yanked my face. I said, ‘Give me a good yank.’ I said, ‘Doctor, I don’t want to see you in six months. Get in there and start pulling, yanking.'”

When asked about her satisfaction with the results, Griffin admitted, “I kind of am. I know, I’m shallow.” Beyond the facelift, she also underwent liposuction on her thighs, with the harvested body fat then injected into her face to enhance volume.

Griffin has also commented on the tendency of some public figures to conceal their cosmetic work. “I think it’s so funny, some of these folks, men and women, who obviously had work done – they say, ‘I went to a spa for a week,’ or they come up with some excuse,” she remarked. She unapologetically embraces her altered appearance, stating, “I have a new face, you can tell I look different than I did before.”

Marketing Her New Look and Comedy Career

The comedian has integrated her “new face” into her professional life, branding her latest comedy tour as “New Face, New Tour.” Her tour is scheduled to continue with a performance in Tacoma, Washington, on September 11.

Griffin has also spoken about her perceived status in the entertainment industry, proclaiming herself “uncanceled” earlier this year. This declaration follows a period of significant professional and personal repercussions stemming from a controversial 2017 photo in which she held a mock severed head resembling former President Donald Trump. The incident occurred early in Trump’s first term.

In the wake of various controversies surrounding Donald Trump, Griffin has expressed a sense of vindication, viewing her earlier controversial statement as a bold artistic move made ahead of subsequent events. She recently posted on Instagram, sharing a photo with fellow comedian Rosie O’Donnell, 64. Griffin conveyed her excitement for O’Donnell’s week-long guest hosting stint on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” writing, “So excited to watch my pal, the brilliant @rosie O’Donnell subbing in all week for the equally brilliant and all around great guy @jimmykimmellive. I certainly loved it when he said ‘it was a special treat for Donald Trump.’ Lol. I’m going to watch every minute. Go Rosie!”

Griffin’s public persona often involves commentary on political figures and her own experiences navigating public opinion and career challenges. Her openness about cosmetic surgery, combined with her outspoken political views, continues to define her unique place in comedy and popular culture.
