Authorities are investigating the discovery of a deceased dog found under concerning circumstances near the border of Wales and England. The RSPCA has issued an appeal for information following the finding of a black lurcher on Moor Lane, Kinnerton, a village situated close to Buckley in Flintshire, on Wednesday morning at approximately 09:30 BST. The animal welfare charity indicated that the dog appeared to have been deliberately abandoned.
Investigation into the Dog’s Discovery
The male lurcher was identified as being microchipped and was wearing a distinctive black collar adorned with metal bone-shaped studs. It also had a blank nametag attached and was accompanied by a length of blue rope. The circumstances surrounding its death and subsequent discovery have prompted an official inquiry.
Initial investigations by the RSPCA successfully traced the dog back to its original owner in north Wales. This owner reported having rehomed the lurcher when it was just a puppy. Further tracing led to a second keeper, also in north Wales, who stated that they too had rehomed the animal. The reason provided for this second rehoming was that the dog reportedly did not get along with another pet in the household.

Bethany Newis, an animal rescue officer with the RSPCA, is leading the appeal for witnesses and information. “We are now trying to trace the person who took on the dog after this,” Ms. Newis stated. “The lurcher would have been three in October, and the fact that its body appears to have been dumped does raise suspicions.”
Ms. Newis elaborated on the challenges faced by the investigation due to the condition of the animal. “Sadly, the body was too decomposed to establish an exact cause of death,” she explained. This decomposition means that the precise manner of the dog’s passing cannot be determined from the remains alone, making the circumstances of its discovery even more critical to the investigation.
