Concerns are mounting among fans that the highly anticipated world tour of K-pop group KATSEYE may face cancellation or significant disruption due to multiple member absences stemming from health issues. The group, scheduled to commence their sold-out “Wildworld” arena tour on September 1st in Dublin, Ireland, has seen its lineup dwindle from six original members to just three active participants in recent months.

Multiple Member Absences Raise Tour Concerns

The latest setback occurred when member Megan Skiendiel sprained her ankle during rehearsal, forcing the group to withdraw from a scheduled performance at Olivia Rodrigo’s Daisy Chain Fields music festival. This injury comes shortly after Sophia Laforteza began a hiatus on August 7th to focus on her “personal health and wellness.” Adding to the lineup challenges, Manon Bannerman has been on an extended health-related leave since February 20th.

As a result, KATSEYE is currently down to three members: Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, and Yoonchae Jeung. This drastic reduction in active members has fueled speculation and worry among their fanbase on social media, with many fearing the “Wildworld” tour might proceed with a severely limited lineup or be postponed altogether.

Member Statements and Tour Readiness

Despite her recent ankle injury, Megan Skiendiel expressed her determination to be ready for the upcoming tour. In a statement, she shared, “Yesterday I sprained my ankle during tour rehearsal and my doctors have advised me to stay off it and let it heal so I can be ready for tour.” She added, “I’m heartbroken to miss Daisy Chain Fields, especially because of everything this festival stands for. I’m sending all my love to Olivia and to all of the incredible artists, non-profit organizations and volunteers who have given their time to make this day so special. It’s going to be such an amazing day, and I can’t wait to see everyone out on tour.”

The status of Sophia Laforteza’s participation in the tour remains uncertain. According to reports, her condition will be reassessed in early September, at which point a decision regarding her involvement will be made. In the interim, Laforteza has been observed by fans at Disneyland and spending time with friends. Her mother indicated to Vogue Philippines that Laforteza is actively engaged in activities like baking and painting, and is focusing on her mental well-being.

KATSEYE’s Recent Successes Amidst Challenges

Even with these internal challenges, KATSEYE has achieved significant commercial success. Their latest EP, “Wild,” debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, selling 170,000 copies. This marks the most successful debut for a girl group in the United States since Danity Kane’s “Welcome to the Dollhouse” in 2008. The EP has also produced several charting singles, including “Animal,” which reached number 24 on the Hot 100, and “Hootie Frutti,” debuting at number 31.

The group’s hit single “Gabriela” previously climbed to number 21 on the Billboard Hot 100 and garnered a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for the 2026 awards. They were also nominated for Best New Artist, though the award was given to Olivia Dean.

Background of the Group and Mental Health Support

KATSEYE was formed in 2023 through the reality competition series “Dream Academy.” The Los Angeles-based group has previously spoken about the intense pressures of fame. In November of the previous year, it was revealed that the group had hired a therapist to help them cope with the spotlight and the disturbing reality of receiving death threats. Lara Raj shared with Rolling Stone the emotional toll these threats can take, stating, “I try to tell myself it doesn’t matter, but if 1,000 people are sending you death threats… even if it’s not going to happen… it’s heavy, and it’s jarring.”

Upcoming “Wildworld” Tour Details

The “Wildworld” tour is slated to begin on September 1st in Dublin, followed by dates in London and other European cities. The tour is then scheduled to continue across North America, including stops in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The tour’s success hinges on the group’s ability to navigate these current lineup issues and ensure a satisfactory performance for their ticket-holding fans.

Fans are eagerly awaiting official updates from the group and their management regarding the tour’s progression and the status of the absent members. The coming weeks will be critical in determining whether KATSEYE can proceed with their ambitious global schedule as planned.
