Arsenal is on the verge of completing a significant transfer, with reports indicating that a new signing has arrived in London for a medical examination. This development follows a busy summer transfer window for the Premier League club, which saw substantial investment in the squad. Despite spending approximately £200 million on five new players, the Gunners reportedly aimed to secure a marquee forward, a goal that remained elusive during the official window.

Key Signings and Departures in the Summer Window

During the summer, Arsenal’s sporting director, Andrea Berta, oversaw a period of considerable squad reshaping. The club made several key acquisitions, including the permanent signing of Piero Hincapie for £34.5 million and the addition of winger Christos Tzolis for £34 million. Midfielder Bruno Guimaraes joined for a substantial £75 million, and defender Ezri Konsa was secured in a £55 million deal. The club also brought in back-up goalkeeper Illan Meslier on a free transfer. However, the failure to land a high-profile forward, despite links to prominent players like Vinicius Junior and Julian Alvarez, was a notable aspect of their summer business.

In terms of player departures, Arsenal managed to facilitate several exits. Notable players who left the club include Gabriel Jesus, Fabio Vieira, Reiss Nelson, and Leandro Trossard. Last summer’s signing, Christian Norgaard, also departed. The club was also reportedly preparing to announce a record-breaking sale.

New Talent Arrives for Arsenal Medical

Recent images circulating online show Andria Bartishvili arriving in London on Wednesday, reportedly to undergo his medical for Arsenal. The 17-year-old Georgian talent has reportedly agreed to a five-year contract with the North London club. Bartishvili, often compared to Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, is a versatile player who can operate as a winger or an attacking midfielder. His arrival is seen as a significant move to bolster the team’s attacking options, though he is not expected to fully integrate with the senior squad until he turns 18 in March 2027.

Reports suggest that Arsenal secured Bartishvili’s signature ahead of competition from established European clubs such as Juventus and Liverpool. The transfer fee is understood to be around €4.5 million, which converts to approximately £3.85 million. Bartishvili himself has acknowledged the move, posting a message on Instagram expressing his gratitude for the congratulatory messages he has received.

Gabriel Martinelli’s Club-Record Transfer Nears Completion

In parallel with the potential new signing, Arsenal is also set to finalize the club-record sale of Gabriel Martinelli. The 25-year-old Brazilian forward has agreed to a move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal. The transfer is expected to be confirmed shortly, with the deal reportedly worth £55.7 million, potentially rising to £60 million with add-ons.

Martinelli, who initially expressed a desire to remain at the Emirates Stadium, has reportedly agreed to the transfer and underwent his medical examination on Wednesday. According to sources, he is set to sign a four-year contract with the Riyadh-based club. The timing of the announcement is influenced by the differing transfer window deadlines; while the Premier League window closed on September 1, Saudi clubs have until September 6 to complete their business.

Martinelli’s Arsenal Career Highlights

Since joining Arsenal from the Brazilian fourth tier in 2019, Gabriel Martinelli has been a significant contributor to the team’s success. During his tenure, he has played a key role in the club winning multiple titles, including the FA Cup, the Premier League, and the Community Shield on three occasions. Across 278 appearances for the Gunners, Martinelli has scored an impressive 62 goals and provided 36 assists, establishing himself as a fan favorite and a vital attacking threat.

Looking Ahead to the 2026/27 Season

With the transfer window closing and significant player movements on the horizon, Arsenal appears to be strategically positioning its squad for the upcoming 2026/27 campaign. The potential arrival of a young, exciting talent like Bartishvili, coupled with the substantial fee received for Martinelli, suggests a focus on both future development and financial prudence. The club’s management, under Mikel Arteta, will be looking to leverage these changes to build a competitive team capable of challenging for top honors in the Premier League and beyond.

The club’s business in the transfer market, both in terms of incomings and outgoings, reflects a broader strategy to adapt to the evolving football landscape. The substantial investment over the summer, followed by a record sale, indicates a dynamic approach to squad management. As the 2026/27 season approaches, Arsenal fans will be eager to see how these new dynamics translate onto the pitch.
