Chelsea has outspent every other Premier League club nearly twofold on agents’ fees, with figures showing a total of £65.1 million paid over 12 months. This amount significantly exceeds Aston Villa’s £38.4 million, the second-highest expenditure.
Premier League Agents’ Fees Breakdown
Premier League clubs collectively disbursed a record £460.3 million to agents from February 2025 to February 2026. Key spenders include:
- Chelsea: £65.1 million
- Aston Villa: £38.4 million
- Manchester City: £37.4 million
- Liverpool: £33.9 million
- Manchester United: £31.8 million
At the lower end, Burnley recorded £7.4 million, Everton £9.9 million, and Sunderland £10.6 million.
Chelsea’s high outlay aligns with extensive transfer business under its US ownership group, led by Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali.
Record Financial Losses
Chelsea recently reported a pre-tax loss of £262.4 million for the 2024-25 season, marking the largest annual deficit in English football history. This surpasses Manchester City’s previous record of £197.5 million from 2010-11.
A UEFA report in February highlighted even higher losses of £355 million for Chelsea in 2025, the biggest ever for an English club.
Since the ownership change last summer, Chelsea has invested around £1.5 billion in transfers, drawing criticism for accumulating young talents. The team currently sits sixth in the Premier League, trailing leaders Arsenal by 22 points.
