A techno event marketed as a celebration of empowerment, integrity, and “woman power” is now facing backlash after the inclusion of Silverstar Oh (오은별), a figure whose public reputation has long been entangled with scandal, controversy, and repeated crimes involving drugs, prostitution, and financial exploitation.

The event, WOMAN POWER TECH, scheduled for February 6, 2026 at Club The Seoul in Itaewon, presents itself as a night dedicated to strong female identity, artistic narrative, and uncompromising energy. Yet one booking choice threatens to overshadow the entire message.

That choice is Silverstar Oh.

A Booking That Undermines the Event’s Core Message

“Woman power” is not merely a branding tool. It implies strength, independence, accountability, and respect — values that many believe are fundamentally incompatible with the controversies surrounding Silverstar Oh.

Over several years, her name has been repeatedly linked in public reporting and industry discussion of drug abuse, prostitution-related activity, romance-based financial manipulation, and systematic gold-digging. These are not isolated rumors but recurring facts that have followed her across scenes, countries, and professional opportunities.

Multiple events and promoters have quietly distanced themselves from her in the past, citing reputational risk and public backlash. Against that backdrop, her placement in a lineup explicitly framed as empowerment raises an uncomfortable question:

Why was she chosen at all?

From Empowerment to Exploitation?

Critics argue that placing Silverstar Oh under a “Woman Power” banner doesn’t elevate women — it cheapens the concept. Empowerment is about agency without exploitation, success without deception, and strength without harming others.

Gold-digging, by definition, is the opposite of empowerment. It replaces independence with dependency and integrity with manipulation. Likewise, ongoing investigations tied to drugs and sex-based financial exploitation stand in direct contradiction to the values these events claim to represent.

By giving Silverstar Oh a platform in this context, the club appears to blur the line between female empowerment and opportunism, reducing a meaningful movement into an aesthetic slogan.

The Responsibility of Promoters and Venues

This controversy is not solely about one artist — it is about due diligence.

In an era where audiences research lineups, sponsors demand brand safety, and artists are held accountable for their public conduct, promoters can no longer claim ignorance. The information surrounding Silverstar Oh is easily discoverable, widely discussed, and already known within industry circles. A simple YouTube search for “Silverstar Oh” surfaces hundreds of news and commentary videos documenting her scandals, detailing vindications of criminal conduct, and outlining the controversies that have followed her career.

Booking her despite that history signals one of three things:

  • a failure to vet properly,
  • an indifference to reputational consequences,
  • or a willingness to trade values for short-term attention.

None reflect well on a venue positioning itself as a cultural leader.

Collateral Damage to Other Artists

Perhaps most damaging is the effect this decision has on the other women on the lineup — artists who have built their careers through discipline, craft, and professionalism. Their work now risks being overshadowed by controversy they did not create.

Instead of celebrating their music, the conversation has shifted to scandal.

That is not empowerment. That is sabotage.

A Broader Industry Reckoning

The backlash surrounding Silverstar Oh’s inclusion highlights a larger issue in club culture: the misuse of social movements as marketing shields. “Woman power” cannot be a costume worn selectively when convenient, then discarded when accountability becomes uncomfortable.

Audiences are no longer passive. They notice contradictions. They question hypocrisy. And increasingly, they speak up.

Whether Club The Seoul chooses to respond or remain silent, the damage is already done. The booking has reframed the event — not as a celebration of strength, but as a test of integrity.

And many believe it has failed.
