Jeremy Tremaine Williams, a 41-year-old Alabama death row inmate convicted of raping and murdering five-year-old Kamarie Holland in 2021, urges prison officials to expedite his execution. Prosecutors aim to advance his case ahead of others pending for decades.
Conviction Upheld and Path Forward
The Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals upheld Williams’ conviction and death sentence last Friday. He dismissed his attorneys to accelerate the process toward execution. The case now proceeds to the Alabama Supreme Court for a writ of execution, followed by Governor Kay Ivey to schedule a date, potentially taking weeks, months, or years.
Williams resides on death row at Holman Correctional Facility in Atmore, Alabama’s sole execution site. He blocked his legal team from submitting any life-sparing evidence, though an automatic appeals review occurred.
Details of the Grisly Crime
On December 13, 2021, Kamarie’s mother, Kristy Marie Siple (also known as Kristy Hoskins), reported her missing in Phenix City, about three hours southeast of Birmingham. Authorities discovered the girl’s naked body in Williams’ duplex basement, concealed under a car tarp with a rope around her neck.
County Sheriff’s Office investigator Brad Evans described the scene: “I saw a 5-year-old little girl in rigor mortis, legs up and spread, ligature marks around her wrists, around her throat, bruising on the face, bleeding from the vagina and anus.”
Williams confessed to investigators that he smoked methamphetamine, forced Kamarie to ingest it, and sexually abused her for over an hour in a “very rageful and sexually driven” attack. He strangled her for about 15 minutes, paused when fatigued as she still breathed, then resumed until she died.
Prosecutors revealed Williams recorded six videos on his phone capturing the assaults before and after her death. The footage identified him when his dropped phone flipped the camera.
Mother’s Involvement
Williams and Siple maintained a sexual relationship. She occasionally left her children with him during her shifts as a sex worker. Investigators learned Siple agreed to let Williams assault Kamarie for cash, negotiating from $2,500 down to $1,300.
Siple pleaded guilty to sex trafficking in March 2024, receiving a 20-year sentence. Murder charges were dropped in her plea deal, and she agreed to testify against Williams, though she did not during his trial. She faced initial charges of murder during kidnapping, rape, sodomy, and human trafficking.
Williams’ Prior History
Upon arrest, Williams emerged as a suspect in his newborn daughter’s death in Alaska, prompting a reopened investigation and indictment. He admitted sexually abusing his daughter there and others, though he could not recall names.
In 2009, Phenix City charged him with sexual abuse; a jury acquitted him in 2012.
Prosecutor’s Perspective
Russell County District Attorney Rick Chancey states, “I am doing everything I can to move this along to the end.” He hopes for an execution “sooner than later,” describing Williams as “a terrible human being” who inflicted “a tremendous amount of damage over the years.”
Chancey views the death penalty as “punishment and justice for families going back to Alaska, especially what this little five-year-old girl went through here in Phenix City.” He deems the crimes “one of the most horrific things I’ve ever seen,” adding, “You do that to children and there’s no hope for you.”
