Enzo Fernandez has engaged in clear-the-air discussions with Chelsea following comments he made about Real Madrid during the international break. The midfielder issued an apology to the club, his teammates, manager Liam Rosenior, and sporting director.

Two-Game Ban for Vice-Captain

Chelsea imposed a two-game suspension on their vice-captain Fernandez for the remarks made while on duty with Argentina. He sits out the FA Cup tie against Port Vale and the Premier League encounter with Manchester City.

Javier Pastore, Fernandez’s agent and former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, initially described the punishment as unfair. He suggested exploring alternatives this summer if contract extension talks reach an impasse. Pastore has now confirmed the issue is resolved privately.

Agent Details the Resolution

“We have already spoken about this over the last few days,” Pastore stated. “These were comments he made with no intention of causing problems at Chelsea.”

Pastore highlighted Fernandez’s leadership qualities and excellent form this season. He clarified that media outlets misconstrued references to the city of Madrid as plans to depart the club.

“We are on the same wavelength with Chelsea. We made peace yesterday and the day before between Chelsea and the player,” Pastore added. “There was never really a problem. We have cleared things up.”

The agent explained that, although Fernandez acted without malice, he erred in his phrasing. At 25 years old, the player is still learning. Fernandez promptly apologized to all involved parties, restoring unity within the squad.

Potential Ban Lift Ahead?

Chelsea may reconsider the suspension before Manchester City visits Stamford Bridge on Sunday. Liam Rosenior plans to address the matter at his pre-match press conference on Friday at Cobham.

Fernandez remains contracted to Chelsea through 2032.
