The new Bluey rollercoaster launches at CBeebies Land in Alton Towers, delivering high-energy fun themed around the popular show’s ‘Here Come the Grannies!’ episode. Riders soar through the air propelled by characters dressed as cheeky grannies, with pulsing techno beats enhancing the wild adventure.
Ride Experience
This world-first attraction, Bluey the Ride: Here Come the Grannies!, catapults families around a vibrant backyard scene featuring a central tree. The coaster delivers surprising speed with multiple ups and downs, thrilling both kids and adults. A recent test ride with children aged 10 and 6 revealed non-stop laughter, especially from the younger rider who shouted, “I love it!” throughout.
Bluey and Bingo lead the way in granny outfits at the front of the carriage, visible mainly after disembarking. During the ride, spot Muffin as an angry granny on a mobility scooter, Bandit mowing the lawn, and Chilli raking leaves. The journey starts with the Bluey theme tune before switching to the ‘Dance Mode’ techno track for added excitement.
Launch and Attractions
The ride debuted at a VIP preview, with CBeebies stars George Webster and Evie Pickerill pressing the ceremonial button. Celebrities including Emmerdale’s Matthew Wolfenden, Coronation Street’s Catherine Tyldesley, and reality TV personalities like Lydia Bright and Georgia Kousoulou sampled it first. Queues formed quickly at 10am opening, but themed play zones along the line—bouncy areas, ramps, and fairy rings—keep young visitors entertained.
Designed for preschoolers and families, the coaster requires a minimum height of 0.9 meters, suitable from around age 4 or 5. Post-ride, explore CBeebies Land for meet-and-greets with life-size Bluey and Bingo, the Big Fun Showtime live experience, and new Bluey-themed hotel rooms.
