A beloved Minnesota pizza chain, Gina Maria’s Pizza, has shuttered all four locations after 50 years of operation. The closures took effect in October, leaving loyal customers seeking answers.

Northern Brands Inc., the parent company, filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy on March 26. Court documents show nearly $3 million in liabilities dwarfing $64,000 in assets. This type of filing triggers liquidation, where remaining assets sell to settle debts with creditors prioritized over owners.

Chain’s History and Expansion

Gina Maria’s launched in 1975 in Minnetonka and grew to serve communities in Chanhassen, Eden Prairie, Edina, and Plymouth. The chain built a strong following for its quality pies over decades.

Customers Mourn the Loss

Patrons express heartbreak over the permanent closure. “If they’re gone forever, this is sad. My family and I love Gina Maria’s. My kids looked forward to when we would drive from Bloomington to the Eden Prairie location to get lunch slices,” one customer shared.

Another recalled, “First pizza we ordered when we moved back to Minnesota on the enthusiastic recommendation of our moving company.”

A longtime fan added, “Must have ordered 100 times since 2006. Sorry to see them go. Really good pizza.”

New Eatery Revives Legacy at Eden Prairie Site

Pizzas Gina now operates at the former Gina Maria’s location in Eden Prairie at 7416 Mitchell Rd. Owner Ulises Godinez confirms the restaurant upholds the original recipes provided by the previous owners, who also left kitchen equipment and supplies to support the transition.
