A 23-year-old social media influencer from Glasgow faces potential imprisonment after authorities discovered over 17 kilograms of cannabis, valued at more than £150,000, hidden in her suitcase at a UK airport.

Court Details Emerge

Ellie Crampsie, known for her prominence in Glasgow’s nightlife and events scene where she promotes brands, also runs her own beauty business, Brows by Ellie, specializing in styling and treatments. She appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on March 26, admitting involvement in supplying cannabis to others following her arrest on April 16 of the previous year.

Crampsie had returned from a holiday in Thailand on an Air France flight via Paris to the Scottish capital. Border Force officers stopped her and, upon inspecting her luggage, found multiple vacuum-sealed packages.

Prosecutor Emma Laing told the court: “She was asked the usual questions by the officer and she confirmed she had travelled from Thailand. Her luggage was opened and a number of vacuum packages were within.”

Officials recovered 17 sealed packages containing 17.7 kilograms of the Class B drug, with an estimated street value between £115,000 and £151,000.

Defence and Sentencing Delay

Defence solicitor Mr. Hodge noted that Crampsie is single and receives support from her parents, who attended court. He described her prior record as unremarkable relative to the charge and requested continued bail pending a social work report.

Sheriff Graeme Watson adjourned sentencing to obtain a criminal justice social work report and a restriction of liberty assessment. He continued her bail conditions, stating: “I’m going to adjourn sentencing in this case to allow the court to obtain a criminal justice social work report and a restriction of liberty assessment. In the meantime I am going to continue your bail conditions. That should be no prejudgment of what comes next, all sentencing options will be open to me on the next occasion, do you understand that?”
