Andrea Egotik faces an unimaginable ordeal in 2026 after losing her 23-year-old daughter, Ayla Egotik-Learn, to domestic violence. RCMP officers arrived at her Nunavut home in January with devastating news about Ayla’s death. “I wake up crying. I go to bed crying,” Egotik shares. “I just want my honey and my Ingu.” In her culture, Ingu means grandchild.
Shocking Discovery in St. Albert
Ayla’s body surfaced in late January inside her St. Albert apartment, where she had lived since early December, according to RCMP findings. A property manager uncovered the remains during an eviction check after spotting a suspicious package. Despite a thorough search, nine-month-old Braylee, Ayla’s daughter, remains missing.
“My honey was so happy to finally be a mom. My Ingu was her world,” Egotik recalls. Ayla relocated to St. Albert in 2024 after connecting with Christopher Beasley at a kitchen job in a Goose Lake, Nvt., mining camp.
Pattern of Domestic Abuse
Court records reveal a troubled relationship marked by violence. Beasley pleaded guilty last July to assaulting Ayla from mid-February to late April, receiving an 18-month probation sentence. Authorities also charged him twice that year with threats to kill her, though both counts were dropped.
RCMP classify Ayla’s death as domestic violence. Authorities arrested 33-year-old Beasley, charging him with second-degree murder and indignity to a body. “I never thought this would ever happen,” Egotik says. “My honey never told me that Christopher beat on her.”
Deceptive Texts Delay Alarm
No one reported Ayla missing initially because text messages, purportedly from her, continued for over a month post-death. Egotik suspects Beasley sent them, including requests for money to her and Ayla’s father, Ross, which they provided. “I am so mad. I didn’t know it wasn’t my honey,” she explains.
Search for Closure
RCMP offer no updates on Braylee’s whereabouts. Egotik, who cremated her daughter, yearns for the infant’s recovery to reunite them. “It would only be right for Braylee to be with her mom,” she states, aligning with Ayla’s wishes.
In a dream, Egotik saw Ayla standing alone, gesturing with open arms as if asking, “Where?” about her baby. The family seeks justice and resolution. “I want justice for both of them… They should still be here today.”
