Seven families fled their homes overnight after a fierce blaze erupted in a mixed-use building in Montreal’s Tétreaultville neighbourhood. One firefighter suffered minor injuries while battling the flames.

More than 150 firefighters rushed to the scene at the intersection of Notre-Dame Street East and Paul-Pau Street on Thursday morning. The intense fire prompted a fifth alarm, leading crews to urge the public to steer clear of the area.
Building Damage and Evacuations
The structure features commercial spaces on the ground floor and residential units above. Flames ravaged the building, forcing the evacuation of seven families. No other injuries occurred.
Injury and Investigation Update
Montreal Fire Department officials confirmed the firefighter’s injuries are minor and non-life-threatening. The individual received hospital treatment. Investigators have yet to determine the fire’s cause.
