Hockey fans craving classic enforcer action witnessed a throwback heavyweight fight between Boston Bruins forward Tanner Jeannot and Philadelphia Flyers winger Nicolas Deslauriers during Saturday’s matchup in Philadelphia.

Prearranged Center Ice Clash

The two heavyweights dropped the gloves midway through the first period, following footage that captured them seemingly scheduling the scrap during warmups. Cameras spotted Jeannot and Deslauriers positioning themselves at center ice before puck drop.

Broadcaster Bob Wischusen called it the “main event” to partner Kevin Weekes as the fighters circled. “Early advantage Deslauriers,” Wischusen noted in the intense heavyweight tilt. Jeannot rallied strongly, landing what many viewed as the fight’s most impactful punches in a hard-fought draw. No clear knockdown emerged, leaving fans divided.

Teammates and spectators cheered the exhausted pair as officials separated them and escorted them to the penalty boxes.

Season Fight Stats and Game Highlights

Jeannot notched his seventh fight of the season, while Deslauriers reached five, including a dominant takedown of Tampa Bay’s Curtis Douglas in November.

The Flyers dominated the scoreboard with a 3-1 victory. Deslauriers drew an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for tripping Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy in the second period. McAvoy responded by scoring Boston’s only goal in the third.

Travis Konecny tallied two goals for Philadelphia, with defenseman Jamie Drysdale adding one. The Flyers trail the Bruins by eight points in the wildcard race.
