Kinetic Games has unveiled its roadmap for Phasmophobia in 2026, featuring four seasonal events, two reworked maps, one new location, and several major updates. These include a player character overhaul, a shift to Unity 6, a release on Nintendo Switch 2, and the long-awaited 1.0 version. The updates begin rolling out soon, promising fresh content for ghost hunters.
Player Character Overhaul and Immersive Features
The player character overhaul arrives by March, introducing free cosmetics, updated character models, and refined animations. This update enhances the visual experience, allowing players to see their character interact more realistically with tools like the EMF Reader, as well as opening doors and handling equipment.
Major 1.0 Release Across Platforms
Ghost hunters prepare for new challenges with the 1.0 launch, scheduled for simultaneous release on all platforms this year. This milestone includes what was once called Horror 2.0, delivering surprises and elevating the game’s scares to new heights.
Map Updates and New Mysteries
Following recent farmhouse revisions, Willow Street and Tanglewood receive overhauls next. Tanglewood keeps a similar layout with added interactions, minor changes, and more details. Willow Street sees unspecified redesigns. Developers hint at a hidden mystery in 6 Tanglewood Drive for observant players to discover.
A brand-new map joins the lineup, though details remain under wraps. The year also brings back standard seasonal events alongside a special one-time event later on.
Developer Insights on the Road Ahead
“This year promises to be significant for Phasmophobia,” stated Daniel Knight, CEO and game director at Kinetic Games. “We are thrilled about the 1.0 launch, which stands as one of the largest updates since the game’s debut. Our ongoing efforts focus on immersive experiences for ghost hunters, building on previous enhancements like Chronicle and the upcoming player character update to recapture the excitement of the 2020 launch.”
Kinetic Games views 2026 as a pivotal year, advancing the early access title toward full release with deeper immersion and expanded content.
