Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice has publicly confirmed his relationship with rapper Rubi Rose on Valentine’s Day, just over a month after his ex-girlfriend accused him of domestic violence.
New Relationship Goes Instagram Official
The 25-year-old NFL star and 28-year-old Rubi Rose, who boasts nearly five million Instagram followers, shared multiple affectionate posts. Images include a mirror selfie of the couple, a kiss, and them riding a quad bike together. Rose also showcased a pair of high-end shoes, seemingly a gift from Rice, along with a video of her presenting him a luxury bag.
Recent Domestic Violence Allegations
The announcement follows claims from Dacoda Jones, mother of Rice’s two children, who posted in early January. She shared 14 photos displaying cuts, bruises, a damaged home, and torn clothing, accompanied by a detailed statement.
Jones wrote: “I’m so tired of keeping quiet. I’m so tired of protecting his image. I’ve been through too much in a span of 8 years and I’ve had ENOUGH! I’ve dealt with abuse for years. We’ve been broken up for a couple months and since then it’s been nothing but hell.”
She described controlling behavior, including broken doors at her new home, physical incidents during pregnancy, being locked outside in freezing weather after infidelity, destroyed belongings, neglect of their children, and disputes over financial support and housing.
Although Jones did not name Rice directly, the post was widely viewed as targeting him. The Chiefs acknowledged awareness of the social media activity, and the NFL initiated an investigation the next day. Rice offered no public response. Jones removed the posts shortly after.
Support came from Chariah Gordon, partner of Rice’s ex-teammate Mecole Hardman, and Sheawna Weathersby, former girlfriend of Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones. Rice’s grandmother denied the allegations, claiming Jones fabricated them amid a disagreement over apartment payments.
Rice’s Prior Legal Issues
In July 2025, Rice received a 30-day jail sentence and five years’ probation for his involvement in a May 2024 multicar crash on a Dallas highway. He raced a friend in a Lamborghini, fled the scene, and later pleaded guilty to charges of collision involving serious bodily injury and racing on a highway causing injury. He must pay victims $115,482 in medical costs.
Career Outlook with Chiefs
The Chiefs finished 6-11 last season, missing the playoffs. Despite an expected offseason overhaul under coach Andy Reid, Rice remains a key asset on his $6.5 million contract. He served a six-game suspension at the season’s start due to the crash and recovered from a prior ACL tear.
