Scott Mills Exits Popular Pantomime Role
Scott Mills, the 53-year-old former DJ, will not reprise his role as Mayor Mills in Jack and the Beanstalk this Christmas. He earned a reported £190,000 annually over three years, delighting family audiences across the UK. Production company Imagine Theatre confirms no plans to include him in the upcoming production, a decision made before recent developments.
Sources close to the production note that the pantomime industry remains tight-knit, with discussions centering on Mills since news of his BBC dismissal emerged. Despite his enthusiasm for the role and close ties with the team, other companies show no interest amid the controversy.
Ibiza Symphonica Appearance Canceled
Mills faces further setbacks, including removal from the Ibiza Symphonica event at the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate on August 15. Organizers dropped him following his BBC sacking, which stemmed from a probe into personal conduct linked to a historical allegation of serious sexual offenses.
Seven years prior, police investigated claims involving a boy under 16, but closed the case without charges. Event organizers issued this statement: “We have carefully considered the serious nature of matters in the public domain concerning Scott Mills and have decided to move forward without Scott as part of our line-up.”
They criticized his management for poor communication and emphasized the event’s charitable support for the Yorkshire Agricultural Society. “Ibiza Symphonica is a celebration… We have a duty to respect the event, the venue, the charity, and the other acts,” the statement continues. Discussions for a replacement are underway, with more acts to be announced. The lineup features Heather Small of M People, Rebecca Ferguson MBE, and Alison Limerick, marking the first outdoor concert at the venue since Sir Elton John in 2012.
Promotional materials and the website now exclude all references to Mills.

Arsenal Football Club erased mentions of Mills from its site after his planned DJ sets at Boyzone’s ‘Two For The Road’ concerts at the Emirates Stadium on June 5 and 6. S Club and B*Witched were set to support. In promotional content, Mills stated: “What a dream to support the lads this summer, it’s going to be 2 nights of big tunes, big sing-alongs and plenty of 90s nostalgia. I hope you’re ready!”
Channel 4 canceled his episode of The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up to Cancer, originally scheduled for April 19. The BBC also removed a plaque honoring Mills from its Radio 1 studio in London, where Studio 82A was renamed ’82 Mills’ upon his departure in 2022.
Mills hosted Radio 1 from 1998 to 2022 before moving to Radio 2’s Breakfast Show, succeeding Zoe Ball in 2025. His salary ranged from £355,000 to £359,999 annually. No permanent replacement has been named.
