Shaquille O’Neal, renowned for his roughly 4,000 dunks across his NBA career including playoffs, has established Dunkman as the world’s first professional dunking league. Serving as founder and inaugural commissioner, O’Neal seeks to crown the top dunker globally.
Dunkman expands on the popularity of its predecessor television series, which featured six episodes last year. Teaming up with TNT Sports, the league schedules five live events: four group-stage contests leading to a championship showdown with 24 competitors from around the world. The victor earns the world champion title and $500,000.
O’Neal Highlights Dunkers’ Potential
These athletes are innovators, and Dunkman provides a global platform, high stakes, and opportunities to launch careers in their passion, O’Neal stated. The league elevates dunking from a single-night spectacle to the fastest-growing pro sport on two feet.
Broadcasts span TNT, TBS, truTV, HBO Max, and social media channels. Dunkman introduces an Olympic-caliber scoring system overseen by expert judges to define professional dunking standards.
