Documents released by the Justice Department on Friday reveal that convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein connected New York Giants co-owner Steve Tisch with multiple women through a series of emails. Tisch’s name appears at least 440 times in the initial batch of more than three million pages made public.
Details from the Emails
The correspondence, spanning various topics, includes everyday arrangements and more explicit exchanges. One message notes, “Jeffery says Steve Tisch might come over around 7-7:30 tonight. Snacks for everyone!” Another involves Epstein inquiring, “Did you contact the great ass fake tit [name redacted]?”
At 76 years old, Tisch serves as chairman, co-owner, and vice president of the Giants while having produced notable Hollywood films such as “Forrest Gump” and “Risky Business.” Efforts to reach Giants headquarters on Friday did not yield an immediate response.
Timeline and Specific Exchanges
Most of the interactions between Tisch and Epstein date back to around 2013. In an April 21, 2013, email, Epstein coordinates a meeting with an individual named Katya. She responds, “Ok, Jeffrey, I’ll be in blue loose pants and white loose shirt. I googled Steve Tisch; he is an Oscar-winning producer and Giants owner. I’d love to meet him. My phone number is [redacted].”
A series of emails from May 2013, forwarded by Tisch to Epstein, references another woman whose name is redacted. Tisch’s initial message to her states, “Jeffrey Epstein is very excited about you and I meeting each other. I like that idea. Do you?” He mentions upcoming travel to New York and Boston, suggesting a meeting and adding, “Your picture is great! Let me know if my schedule gives you an opportunity to get together please.”
Epstein replies two days later: “She is traveling. Not sure when she returns to Florida. She is a microbiology major and is still in university, so I doubt she could travel during the week, but we’ll see. You should also make it clear that you will organize her ticket.” Tisch later notes, “Never heard back from her. Oh well…”
An April 26, 2013, email thread titled “Ukrainian Girl” shows Tisch writing, “Hi Jeffrey, I just had lunch with your assistant’s friend [name redacted] who I met at your house Wednesday morning. Very sweet girl. Do you know anything about her?” Epstein responds, “No, but I will ask… I will get all info. Did you contact the great ass fake tit [redacted]? She’s a character, short term, has an older boyfriend going to acting school, a 10 ass. I am happy to have you as a new but obviously shared interest friend.”
Tisch inquires further: “Curious to know about [redacted]. I will contact [redacted]… pro or civilian?”—seemingly asking if the individual is a professional escort. Epstein clarifies, “Do you want to know if she is sweet as she seems? Boyfriends? Trustworthy, etc. She is earnest. [Redacted] is a civilian but Russian, and rarely tells the truth, but fun.”
Epstein later adds, “Send me a number to call; I don’t like records of these conversations.” The following day, he updates: “Report just in—you did very well. She wants to go to the play. She is a little freaked by the age difference but go slow and wait. I will try to convince her not to return to Ukraine; having her crying worked.”
Epstein’s Background and the Document Release
Epstein, a prominent financier, faced federal sex trafficking charges upon his 2019 arrest. He died in his jail cell on August 10, 2019, while awaiting trial, with the coroner ruling the death a suicide. He had been accused of sexually abusing underage girls and was previously convicted in 2008 for soliciting a minor for prostitution in Florida, serving 13 months of an 18-month sentence as a registered sex offender.
Known for ties to politicians, celebrities, and executives, Epstein began his career at Bear Stearns before establishing operations in the U.S. Virgin Islands. In 1998, he purchased the 72-acre Little St. James island for nearly $8 million, where authorities allege he conducted sex-trafficking operations, often referred to as Epstein Island.
Epstein’s associate Ghislaine Maxwell faced related charges and was convicted, currently serving a 20-year sentence in a Texas prison.
The Justice Department announced on Friday the release of additional records from its Epstein investigation files, including about three million pages, over 2,000 videos, and 180,000 images. These disclosures, posted on the department’s website, stem from the Epstein Files Transparency Act, enacted amid public and political demands to uncover government knowledge of Epstein’s abuse of young girls and his associations with influential figures, including Donald Trump and Bill Clinton. This batch includes materials previously withheld from a December release.
Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche stated that the files aim to provide transparency into the financier’s activities and connections.
