Arrests Made in Westminster Murder Investigation
Authorities have detained two men, aged 18 and 21, on suspicion of murder following a fatal stabbing in central London. The incident occurred on Abbey Orchard Street in Westminster around 10:15 p.m. on Friday, claiming the life of 26-year-old Farmanullah Sherzad.
Officers at the scene administered first aid to Mr. Sherzad before paramedics from the London Ambulance Service transported him to a nearby hospital. He was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. A post-mortem examination confirmed that he suffered multiple stab wounds.
Investigation Progress and Victim Details
Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley, leading the probe, described the arrests as a major step forward in the ongoing investigation. “These arrests mark significant progress in what continues to be a fast-moving and complex investigation,” he stated. “We can now name the victim as 26-year-old Farmanullah Sherzad. Our thoughts remain with his family as they process this devastating loss.”
Mr. Sherzad’s family has been informed of his death. To address community concerns, police plan increased patrols in the area over the coming days and encourage residents to approach officers with any worries.
